New examination sessions for certificates of radio amateur and radio operator in the land mobile service

03.10.2017

During 11-28 October 2017, the Romanian National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), through its regional divisions of Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Timis, is organising examination sessions for those who wish to be certified as radio amateurs and, respectively, radio operators in the land mobile service.

Radio operator certificates

Those who operate radiocommunications stations in companies that own or operate land mobile radiocommunications networks must hold a radio operator certificate. Such companies usually operate in domains such as: industry, utility production, transport and distribution at a national level, transportation, constructions and public works, agriculture, forestry, privacy and private property protection, public protection, public health, community management services, etc.

The examination sessions for the certificates of radio operator in the land mobile service are scheduled as follows: 17-18 October in Timisoara, 21 October in Iasi, 25 October in Cluj and 25-26 October in Bucharest. Further details are available, in Romanian, here, on the ANCOM website section dedicated to the personnel operating radiocommunications stations.

8,331 certificates for operators of radiocommunications stations in the land mobile service have been issued and are currently valid in Romania.

Radio amateur certificates

Amateur radio is mainly a hobby, with yet a profound competitive side on both local and international levels. Furthermore, amateur radio opens the opportunity to develop one’s abilities in using radiocommunications stations, to acquire in-depth knowledge of the radio propagation phenomenon in various frequency bands, and either to build and test radiocommunications equipment. Moreover, radio amateurs can sometimes contribute, together with the competent public institutions, to ensuring radiocommunications in emergency situations.

The examinations for the radio amateur certificates will be held during 11-12 October in Bucharest, on 24 October in Timisoara and 28 October in Cluj and Iasi.

Further details are available, in Romanian, here, in the section dedicated to radio amateurs on ANCOM’s website.

In Romania, currently, there are 3,649 radio amateurs certified by ANCOM.

The interested persons must submit an application, along with a copy of the applicant’s ID document and a recent 3x4 cm passport-type colour photo, or a 9:7 colour photo in electronic format with a minimum 300 dpi resolution.
