New Examination Sessions for Amateur and Radio Operator Certificates

The Romanian Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), through its regional divisions of Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Timis, is organising examination sessions for the issuance of Amateur and, respectively, Radio Operator Certificates in the land mobile service, during 8 April - 29 May 2019.
 
Examination sessions for the issuance of Radio Operator Certificates
The examination sessions for the Radio Operator Certificates in the land mobile service are scheduled as follows: on 06 and 07 May in Bucharest, on 15 May 2019 in Timisoara, on 16 May 2019 in Iasi, and on 29 May 2019 in Cluj.Further details are available, in Romanian, here, in the ANCOM website section dedicated to radiocommunications station operators.
 
Those who operate and coordinate radiocommunications stations must hold a radio operator certificate therefor. Companies that own land mobile radiocommunications networks usually operate in domains such as: industry, manufacturing, public utility transport and distribution at a national level, transportation, constructions and public works, agriculture, forestry, privacy and private property protection, public protection, public health, community management services, etc.
 
8,595 certificates for operators of radiocommunications stations in the land mobile service are currently valid in Romania.
 
Examination sessions for the issuance of Amateur Radio Operator Certificates
The examination sessions for the Amateur Radio Operator Certificates will be held during 08 - 09 April 2019 in Bucharest, 13 April 2019 in Cluj, 8 May 2019 in Timisoara and 09 May 2019 in Iasi. Amateur radio is mainly a hobby, yet with a profound competitive dimension on both local and international levels. Furthermore, amateur radio opens the opportunity to develop one’s abilities in using radiocommunications stations, to acquire in-depth knowledge of the radio propagation phenomenon in various frequency bands, and either to build and test radiocommunications equipment. Moreover, radio amateurs can sometimes contribute, together with the competent public institutions, to ensuring radiocommunications in emergency situations.
Currently, in Romania, there are 10,725 radio amateurs certified by ANCOM.
 
Required documents
The interested persons must submit an application, along with a copy of the applicant’s ID document and a passport-type colour photo. Additionally, applicants for the Radio Operator Certificate of in the land mobile service need to provide proof of secondary school graduation (5th to 8th grades).
 
Sanctions 
ANCOM may apply fines amounting from RON 500 to RON 7,000 to those who operate terrestrial mobile networks without an adequate certificate or use ham radio without an authorisation issued by ANCOM, or with a suspended or expired authorisation.
