Member of the Board

The Hungarian National Communications Authority

 

Mr Ferenc Banhidi has been member of the Board of the Hungarian National Communications Authority since January 2004. He joined the regulatory authority as Executive Vice President in 1999, following a wide-ranging telecommunications experience, including two years as director of a Hungarian alternative telecom company PanTel, responsible for strategy and corporate planning.

 

  

He also worked for the incumbent operator, Matav, for four years; he set up end led the strategic planning department, then he spent two years as head of the privatisation department, responsible for the management of one of the most successful privatisation projects in Hungary. 

Prior to that he has also worked as a senior planner at the National Planning Agency, where he was responsible for the development of long- and medium-term macroeconomic forecasts using econometric models.

Mr Banhidi holds a M.A. from the Budapest University of Economic Sciences, and a Master of Business Telecommunications degree from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.

His main interest lies in macroeconomic and development policy issues of emerging market economies. Apart from his mother tongue he is fluent in English, Chinese and German.
