ANCOM Organizes Examination Sessions for the Radio Amateur and Radio Operator Certificates in the Land Mobile Service

Between 16 April and 25 May 2016, the Romanian National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), through its regional divisions of Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Timis, is organising examination sessions for those who wish to obtain radio amateur and, respectively, radio operator certificates in the land mobile service.

The examinations for the radio amateur certificates will be held on 16 April 2016 in Cluj-Napoca, on 19 April 2016 in Timisoara, on 19-20 April 2016 in Bucharest and on 23 April 2016 in Iasi. The examination sessions for the certificates of radio operator in the land mobile service are scheduled as follows: on 12-13 April 2016 in Bucharest, on 6 May 2016 in Iasi, on 10-11 May 2016 in Timisoara and on 25 May 2016 in Cluj-Napoca.Further details are available, in Romanian, here, on the ANCOM website section dedicated to the operating personnel of the radiocommunications stations.
The interested persons may register by submitting an application, along with a copy of the applicant’s ID document and a passport-type colour photo. Additionally, applicants for the certificate of radio operator in the land mobile service need to provide the proof of secondary school graduation (5th to 8th grades).
In order to operate radiocommunications stations, the employees of companies that own or operate land mobile radiocommunications networks must hold a radio operator’s certificate. Such companies usually operate in domains such as: industry, utility production, transport and distribution at a national level, transportation, constructions and public works, agriculture, forestry, security and protection of privacy, public protection, public health, community management services etc. At present, there are 9,460 valid operator’s certificates for the radiocommunications stations in the land mobile service in Romania.

 

Radio amateurism is mainly a hobby, with yet a profound competitive side on both local and international levels. Furthermore, radio amateurism allows for developing abilities in using the radiocommunications stations, for knowing in-depth the phenomenon of radio propagation in various frequency bands, or for manufacturing and testing radiocommunications equipment. Moreover, radio amateurs can sometimes take part, together with the relevant public institutions, in ensuring radiocommunications under emergency situations. In Romania, ANCOM has issued 10,133 radio amateur certificates so far.
