22.11.2012

During the third plenary of the European Regulators Group for Postal Services (ERGP), hosted today by the Swedish regulatory authority, the ERGP board for the year 2013 has been elected. The board consists of two vice-chairs – to be represented by the regulatory authorities of Sweden (PTS) and Romania (ANCOM) – and a chair, to be represented by the regulator of Belgium (BIPT). The ANCOM president, Catalin Marinescu, has been elected by the other Member States to be vice-chair in  2013, and, subsequently, to become chair of ERGP in 2014.

The European Regulators Group for Postal Services was established by a Commission Decision, aiming to facilitate consultation, coordination and cooperation between the independent national regulatory authorities in the Member States, and between those authorities and the Commission, with a view to consolidating the internal market for postal services.
The ERGP members, heads of the 27 regulatory authorities in the Member States, collaborate to ensure the European citizen’s access to high quality postal services.
ANCOM is a full member in the ERGP, given Romania’s status in the EU. The European Commission is invited to all the plenary sessions of the Group as a permanent observer. Permanenrt observers are also the EFTA Surveillance Authority and the regulatory authorities in the Member States of the European Economic Area (EEA) and in the candidate countries.
More information on the ERGP and about this meeting are available on the European Commission’s website, here and, respectively, here.
