Global Forum - Bucharest 2009

This year’s edition of GLOBAL FORUM, the most prestigious IT&C conference, is organized on 19-20 October 2009 at the Palace of Parliament, in Bucharest, Romania being the first east-European country that hosts this event. 

 

The National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications is one of the organizers of the event entitled “Global Forum 2009 - Shaping the Future”, which is anticipated to assemble in the debates on the Information Society more than 300 political leaders, leaders of multinational companies, members of academia, mayors and representatives of various associations, well-known consulting and law firms from both Europe and the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa.  

 

Monday, 19 October, within the first Session of this international event, Mr. Catalin Marinescu, the ANCOM President, presents the main developments occurred in the communications sector during the first six months of 2009.

 

Tuesday, 20 October, ANCOM will chair a session within the Forum, on Mobile Broadband Wireless Access. During this session, the debate will be focused upon expanding the access to broadband services by means of radio spectrum management. Identified as Session 7 in the attached draft agenda, it is aimed at discussing the impact and benefits of the mobile broadband wireless access networks and technologies over the electronic communications sector – spectrum management to boost broadband, solutions for remote areas, digital dividend, network development, state-of-the-art technologies, the impact of regulation on the development of mobile broadband. Representatives of the European Commission, of European regulators and of the communications industry from Romania and abroad have confirmed their contributions as speakers in the event.
