ANCOM has received a new complaint in the electoral context, from a political actor
26.04.2025
On 24th April 2025, ANCOM has received a new substantive complaint in the electoral context, from a political actor, signalling the limitation of daily expenses for electoral propaganda on the candidate’s profile and page on a certain online platform, particularly affecting newly created profiles, thus accusing a lack of equal opportunities and fairness in the electoral process.
ANCOM, based on its legal attributions under the Digital Services Act, handles all the complaints received in an objective, fair and swift manner. So, upon receipt of the above-mentioned complaint, in order to analyse and formulate a response as rigorous as possible, ANCOM requested clarifications on the measures taken by the petitioner, including on the conduct of the very large online platform and its compliance with the obligations established under the digital services legislation, and took all legal measures within its competence.
Following the clarification received from the political actor, ANCOM has reached the online platform to clarify its conduct in the reported situation with respect to its obligations under the DSA. The signalled situation (a technical issue) was remedied by the platform during the day.
