Aisemnal, Monitor-EMF and Netograf – digital tools exhibited by ANCOM at GoTech World 2022

03.11.2022

ANCOM attended as exhibitor the eleventh edition of GoTech World 2022 which took place on 3 and 4 November 2022. At the exhibition stand, ANCOM showed the participants the digital tools developed by the Authority: aisemnal.ro, monitor-emf.ro and Netograf.

GoTech World 2022, the largest IT & Digital event from Central and Eastern European area, which welcomed more than 16,000 participants, approximately 100 exhibitors and more than 145 international speakers, took place at Romexpo, in Bucharest on 3 and 4 November.

aisemnal.ro, the national map of mobile signal coverage

ANCOM launched in 2019 the platform Aisemnal.ro, the map of mobile signal coverage in Romanian localities and along national and county roads. The site reflects the mobile signal coverage for all technologies available at the time of measurements (2G / 3G / 4G) for each of the mobile operators active on the Romanian market, the level of the aggregate signal throughout the country, the areas featuring risk of involuntary roaming, as well as the map of mobile voice signal coverage of the Bucharest metro network.

The map aisemnal.ro was fully developed by the Authority following the monitoring campaigns conducted starting 2019 and is updated every year. The users can thus follow the evolution of the coverage from one year to another. By the end of this month the map will be updated with the results of the monitoring campaign conducted this year between June and September.

The platform is aimed at both users and operators of mobile communications services, being for the latter a means of assessing the situation on the field which can serve as a tool in planning the investments in the telecommunications infrastructure they own.

monitor-emf.ro, the map of electromagnetic field strength

Monitor-emf.ro is an objective tool which enables those interested to consult both the results obtained from the continuous measurements of the electromagnetic field by means of the EMF fixed sensors, and the results of the measurements carried by ANCOM within the annual monitoring campaigns with portable equipment for measuring the electromagnetic field, results which are compared to the reference levels.

For each measurement, the website www.monitor-emf.ro displays the location, period and level of exposure to electromagnetic fields, as recorded at the time of the measurement, and the calculated percentage from the maximum reference level established by the legal framework in force.

The measurements are made in public areas, near clusters of electromagnetic field sources. The results of the measurements performed so far by ANCOM with both types of equipment have showed that the maximum levels provided by the legislation in force have not been exceeded.

Netograf, the platform enabling the verification of the internet quality

Netograf is a platform conceived by ANCOM with the purpose of offering the internet users from Romania an independent, objective and free tool which enables them to verify at all times the quality of the internet service they are paying for. From 2019, Netograf is also available as an app for mobile terminals (Android and iOS) and desktop (Windows).

By using the Netograf platform, users are able to measure and assess the technical quality parameters for the internet access service (data transmission speed – download and upload, packet transfer delay, jitter).

This tool was created in order to raise the users’ level of awareness and develop their capacity to better protect their interests in their relationship with the internet access service providers.
