ANCOM Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Agency for Electronic Communications of the Republic of Macedonia

Today, the President of the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), Mr. Cătălin Marinescu, and the Director of the Agency for Electronic Communications of the Republic of Macedonia (AEC), Mr. Robert Ordanoski, have signed, in Bucharest, a Memorandum of Understanding.
The main objective of this Memorandum of Understanding is to establish the necessary framework for the cooperation and exchange of information between the two Parties, in compliance with their legal powers in the area of regulation and monitoring of activities in the electronic communications sector.
The collaboration is mainly aimed at promoting the exchange of information regarding the legal framework which applies to the electronic communications sector, as well as the exchange of experience inasmuch as regulation and consultation in these fields are concerned.
To this end, bilateral consultations, both at management and expert levels, will be organised, and participation to relevant events held in the two states, including workshops, seminars, study visits will be ensured.
The representatives of the two institutions will meet annually in order to assess the progress made and consider new approaches for improving the collaboration.
The Agency for Electronic Communications (AEC), the independent regulatory body in the electronic communications field, was established in 2005. For the purpose of regulating the electronic communications market in a systematic manner, the Agency has tightly defined objectives to achieve: create favourable conditions for the effective and sustainable competition in the electronic communications market to serve the interests of the users, business society and communications industry, through effective, transparent, proportionate and proactive enforcement of the regulatory tools.
