ANCOM

ANCOM is participating in Mobile World Congress 2026 (MWC 2026), one of the most important global events dedicated to the telecommunications and technology industry.

On the first day of the event, the ANCOM President had a meeting with Goga GULORDAVA, the newly appointed President of the Georgian National Communications Commission (ComCom). The discussions focused on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two authorities in October 2025, as well as on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of electronic communications regulation.

The ANCOM delegation also participated in the “Connecting a World in Motion” session, organized as part of the MWC 2026 ministerial programme. The panel brought together leaders from governments, industry and multilateral organisations to reflect on ways to strengthen global cooperation on digital policies and public-private partnerships, in a context marked by intense geopolitical competition and accelerated change. Speakers included Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the OECD, Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of ITU and Brendan Carr, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

On the sidelines of the panel, the ANCOM delegation had a brief meeting with Brendan Carr, during which concrete aspects of cooperation between the two authorities were discussed, building on the strategic partnership between Romania and the United States of America.

The program of the first day also included a visit to the Romanian pavilion at MWC 2026, where ANCOM representatives engaged with the Romanian companies present and were briefed on the innovative products and solutions developed by them.

Subsequently, the delegation visited the stands of international telecom equipment and infrastructure manufacturers, to review the latest technological developments in the field.

The ANCOM delegation also met with Gwynne Shotwell, President of SpaceX, and David Goldman, Vice President of the company. The discussions focused on cooperation projects of mutual interest, reiterating the opportunities Romania offers from the perspective of its regulatory framework, its highly skilled technical workforce, and its facilities for foreign investment.

Throughout its presence at MWC 2026, the ANCOM delegation has been accompanied and supported by the Consulate General of Romania in Barcelona.
