Veritel.ro - an average user in Romania achieves 155 MB mobile internet traffic, every month

The Romanian Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) updated on Veritel.ro – the online application for comparing telecom offers – the values configuring the profile of an occasional, average and intensive mobile telephony and mobile internet user, based on the most recent statistical data processed by the Authority. Thus, in the second half of 2014, the average monthly traffic of mobile data grew by 40%, compared to the first half of the year (Infographics regarding Veritel.ro are available here).
 
According to the ANCOM data, an average user of mobile telephony and mobile internet configured on Veritel.ro achieves 155MB internet traffic every month, sends 72 national SMS (64 on-net and 8 off-net) and talks on average 202 minutes on-net (201 to mobile and 1 to fixed networks) and 47 minutes off-net (40 to mobile and 7 to fixed networks).
The average monthly traffic of mobile data grew by 40% compared to the first part of 2014, while the number of off-net minutes increased by 30%, following the launch of more atractive offers in the retail market, due to ANCOM’s intervention on the wholesale market by regulating a ceiling for the mobile termination rates, starting from 1 April 2014.
An occasional user of mobile telephony and mobile internet consumes  configured on Veritel.ro achieves 52 MB internet traffic per month, sends 24 national SMS (21 on-net and 3 off-net) and talks on average 67 minutes on-net (to mobile networks) and 15 minutes off-net (13 to mobile and 2 to fixed networks).
The intensive user of mobile telephony and mobile internet consumes 465 MB internet traffic in a month, sends 216 national SMS-type messages (192 on-net and 24 off-net) and talks on average 606 minutes on-net (603 to mobile and 3 to fixed networks) and 141 minutes off-net (120 to mobile and 21 to fixed networks).
Moreover, - on www.veritel.ro - ANCOM updated the consumption values for occasional, average  and intensive fixed telephony users. According to the statistical data consolidated by ANCOM, an average fixed telephony user achieves, every month, 45 minutes on-net and 32 minutes off-net.
These pre-set profiles, relying on the statistical data regarding the consumption of electronic communications services in Romania in the first semester of 2014, were introduced on Veritel.ro in order to facilitate the configuration of the searched offer. The Veritel.ro users can however configure themselves the average monthly consumption and may choose whether to use these pre-defined profiles in order to precisely find out the most suitable telecom offer in line with their communication needs.
By means of the Veritel.ro application, the users may fiind - in three simple steps - the most advantageous offers of fixed and mobile telephony and internet: they choose the category of services, insert their consumption estimates and are provided with a list of 25 tariff plans, ranked in order of cost. When the results are displayed, other relevant details are also published, such as the minimum contract duration, the termination penalties, or information on the available special offers.
Veritel.ro is an independent and non-commercial tool developed by the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications to the benefit of the telecom users in Romania. Access to this application is free of charge and is not constrained in any way, the users having instant access to all the public offers of all the communications operators in Romania. All the providers of telephony and internet access services have the obligation to post their offers on Veritel.ro within 4 days since the offer launch.
